How to choose the right pool pump

Choose a pump around the water flow your pool needs, the pipework and the filter. Horsepower alone does not give the full answer.

Start with the whole system

A good pump choice begins with the pool, not with the largest motor on the shelf. Share the pool dimensions, average water depth and intended use. Explain whether the system includes a heater, water feature or automatic cleaner. Each item can affect the required flow.

For a replacement, also send a photograph of the existing pump nameplate and the connections. This helps the supplier compare the proposed model with the installation you already have.

Ask for flow at your operating conditions

A pump curve shows how much water a pump can move against different levels of resistance. Your installer should estimate the resistance from the pipes, fittings and equipment, then check the proposed pump against that condition.

A flow figure without an operating condition is incomplete. Ask the supplier to explain where the proposed model will operate on its curve and how it matches the filter.

Use a simple selection checklist

Confirm the required flow, filter rating, pipe sizes, electrical supply, connection dimensions and available installation space. Ask what documents come with the model and how parts and service enquiries are handled.

Keep this information with the quotation. It gives you a useful record when comparing offers and when the equipment later needs service.

Discuss your requirements with COREX

COREX includes Max Flow Pool Pumps and Euro Sand Filters in its range. Send your pool requirements and ask for the relevant model information. Have your installer review the proposed pump and filter together before ordering.

How to choose the best pool pump

The best pool pump is the model that meets the system flow requirement and fits the filter, pipework, electrical supply and intended use. Compare the model performance curve at the required operating point, not horsepower alone. For a residential or commercial pool, share the pool volume, pipe sizes, filter model and any water features before requesting a recommendation.
